What you'll accomplish
Multi-vendor RFP responses, lengthy BRDs, regulatory requirements, audit reports: Claude Pro's 200K-token context window handles documents that free AI tools would crash or truncate. You'll extract precisely what you need in seconds instead of hours.
What you'll need
What you should see: Your dashboard changes to show "Pro" status and you have access to Claude's most capable model.
What you should see: Your file appears as an attachment thumbnail in the message area. Troubleshooting: If the file is too large (Claude accepts files up to ~10MB), convert a PDF to text first using a free PDF-to-text converter, then paste the text.
After attaching your document, type your request in the same message:
"I've uploaded a vendor RFP response. Please: (1) List every feature the vendor claims to support, (2) Identify any gaps against these requirements: [paste your requirements list], (3) Flag any claims that seem vague or unsubstantiated."
What you should see: Claude returns a structured analysis with numbered findings, usually within 30 seconds even for long documents.
In the same conversation, ask follow-up questions without re-uploading the document. Claude remembers it:
"Expand on gap #3. What are the technical implications?" "Summarize the vendor's SLA commitments in plain English." "What questions should I ask this vendor in the follow-up meeting?"
When you need the output in a specific format:
"Take your gap analysis above and reformat it as a table with columns: Requirement, Vendor Capability, Gap? (Y/N), Risk Level (H/M/L), Follow-up Question."
What you should see: Claude reformats the analysis into a clean table you can paste directly into Excel or Word.
RFP/vendor document analysis:
Evaluate this vendor response against these requirements: [list]. For each requirement: rating (Meets/Partial/Gap), evidence from the document, and any red flags.
BRD section review:
Review this requirements section for: completeness gaps, ambiguous language, missing edge cases, and testability issues. List each problem with a suggested fix.
Regulatory document summary:
Summarize the key compliance requirements from this regulatory document that affect [system/process]. What must we implement? What are the deadlines?
Contract/SLA review:
Identify all SLA commitments, penalties, and obligations in this contract. List what WE must do and what the VENDOR must do, and flag any terms that seem unusual or risky.
Long meeting transcript analysis:
From this workshop transcript, extract: (1) all stated requirements, (2) open questions, (3) decisions made, (4) action items with owners. Format each as a separate numbered list.
